National Regulations for Obedience-Competitions in Austria

Exactifications for Obedience-competitions in Austria:

- Before entering in class Obedience Beginner Austrian teams should have passed the exam BH. For Teams from abroad this exam is not necessery, however teams from abroad have to fulfill all their requirements, which they need in their own country to compete in Class Obedience Beginner.

- The age at which Class Obedience Beginner can be entered is 12 months. The age at which Classes 1, 2 and 3 can be entered is 15 months. The age at which Class Obedience Senior can be entered is 8 years.   

- To compete in class 1 a dog should have passed class Obedience Beginner one time with at least 1st prize (Excellent). For Teams from abroad this exam is not necessery, however teams from abroad have to fulfill all their requirements, which they need in their own country to compete in class 1. Exception: Regulations concerning dogs, who have passed IBGH 2 or 3 or IGP 1, IGP 2 or IGP 3

- To compete in class Obedience Senior a dog should have collect at least the permission to compete in class 1.

- To compete in class 2 (class 3) a dog should have passed class 1 (class 2) one time with at least 1st prize (Excellent).  

- A dog may enter a class as often as he like. There is no regulation that a dog has to rise up to the next class, if he has a certain number of 1st prizes (Excellent). Exception: Regulations for ÖKV-Obedience-Cup, concerning winners of the cup

- Dogs are not allowed to move down to a lower class in a competition with rank, in usual exams without ranking moving down is always allowed.

- Vaccination regulations: Dogs entering obedience competitions have to have a valid vaccination against rabbies and have to be registrated (with Microchip, etc.)

- Bitches in season: are allowed to compete, but they have to perform last. For bitches, who will give birth or had given birth, there are the same regulations as in the international giudelines.

- Dogs with docked tails or cropped ears or ones that have had some other changes in appearance done for cosmetic reasons are not admitted to compete.

- All dogs have to be checked outside or inside the ring, before the competitions starts. Judges are not allowed to touch the dogs.
